Aquashade® Aquatic Dye 8oz. Inhibits photo-synthesis .. Prevents algae development
Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is a blend of blue and yellow dyes specifically designed to screen or shade portions of the sunlight spectrum (red-orange and blue-violet) required by underwater aquatic plant and algae growth. This action effectively inhibits photo-synthesis in young, bottom growth and may prevent development altogether if Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is applied early enough in the season.
- EPA Reg. No. 33068-1 EPA Est. No. 42291-GA-1
- Aquashade® Aquatic Dye Inhibits Planktonic (suspended) algae blooms
- Always read and follow all label directions
- Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is non-corrosive and will not stain bathing suits, fountain surfaces or other water features
- Normal "half-life" of Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is four weeks
Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is primarily effective at depths of two feet or greater. Inhibition of Planktonic (suspended) algae blooms has also been proven. Desirable, floating leaved plants such as lilies are unaffected if they have already surfaced and concentrated product does not contact leaves directly. Use of Aquashade® Aquatic Dye in conjunction with other products provides an effective year round control and maintenance program.
Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is effective at a low dosage concentration. One gallon treats one acre of water with an average depth of four feet (approximately equivalent to one ounce per 10,000 gallons). This provides a one part per million concentration. Water treated with Aquashade® Aquatic Dye will have an aesthetically pleasing crisp, clear aqua-blue coloration. It will not cloud the water nor significantly reduce visibility. Color "tint" of water treated with Aquashade® Aquatic Dye will vary somewhat depending upon depth, dissolved and suspended materials in the water, and background (bottom color).
Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is easy to apply by simply pouring in along the water's edge. Natural water movements will quickly disperse Aquashade® Aquatic Dye until even coloration is achieved throughout. Quicker dispersion can be accomplished by applying Aquashade® Aquatic Dye evenly on the surface with a sprayer, injecting into water pumps, or applying around aerators or waterfalls. Wearing of rubber gloves and protective eye wear is advised for cleanliness and safety.
Aquashade® Aquatic Dye has been used effectively in sites ranging from backyard garden pools to large business park and residential development ponds. Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is also popular with fish farmers who need to suppress rooted plant growth in order to facilitate netting at harvest time. Golf course superintendents enjoy the aesthetic appeal and product performance which does not interfere with use of water for irrigation. Farm and recreational ponds are not restricted for livestock watering nor swimming following applications of Aquashade® Aquatic Dye.
Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is non-corrosive and will not stain bathing suits, fountain surfaces or other water features at use dilution. Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is oxidized by chlorine, so some loss of color may be expected in chlorinated water systems. Coloration is gradually lost by dilution, photodegradation and some biodegredation over time. Normal "half-life" of Aquashade® Aquatic Dye is four weeks. However, since these factors will vary, needed additions of Aquashade® Aquatic Dye to maintain color concentrations may range from weekly to monthly.
