Product Overview
Floating Heart (Nymphoides peltata) Lily-Like
Floating heart grows somewhat like a waterlily, with smaller leaves and small 5-petaled yellow blooms. Floating heart is in the genus often refered to as snowflakes, because their flowers are around the size of very large snowflakes, and the blooms blanket the plants during the warm season. It has historically been popular for ponds due to its attractive appearance and hardiness. and does well in small water features and shallow water due to its smaller size. It is the most cold tolerant of the Nymphoides and Hydrocleys (water poppy), surviving down to at least Zone 5. Unfortunately, people have carelessly introduced floating heart to natural water features and it has spread aggressively, disrupting natural ecosystems. It spreads quickly with long runners, and also sets seed.
Note: We no longer sell floating heart (Nymphoides peltata), as it is now listed as a noxious weed in a number of states and that number is increasing all the time. We recommend substituting with similar species Nymphoides crenata, Nymphoides geminata and Nymphoides cristata, or Hydrocleys nymphoides (water poppy).
