Product Overview
Frogbit (Limnobium spongia)
Frogbit is a small floating plant (usually 2-4"), well suited for container water gardens and smaller water features. The green heart shaped leaves resemble a miniature waterlily and float on the surface. It multiplies quickly in warm weather with runners like a strawberry plant, which helps shade the surface and remove nutrients from the water. If crowded its stems will elongate, and leaves that grow out of the water will resemble a floating mat of baby water poppy. To prevent crowding, simply remove excess plants from the pond, which also helps to remove the nutrients they have absorbed. Frogbit forms buds that sink to the bottom of the pond to winter over until spring.
