Nelumbo 'Large Brocade Edge' White Hardy Water Lotus
If you want a lot of blooms (and who doesn't), Large Brocade Edge is an excellent choice! A medium sized white multi-petal lotus, it just keeps blooming, with so many buds coming you are sure they won't all bloom (they will!). Our best blooming white lotus, and maybe the best of any color. Honestly, we're not sure why it has Large in the name, being a medium sized plant--perhaps the hybridizer thought the bloom was large for the plants, or the petals gave a heavily brocaded aspect, or maybe something was lost in the translation from Chinese (Da Jin Bian). With this many flowers, do we really care?
SIZE: Small to Medium: (Height 2' to 4', Medium Spread)
Planting Container: We recommend a 4 1/2 Gallon Solid Planting Container or a 5 Gallon Solid Planting Container.
Light Requirements: FULL SUN
WATER DEPTH: 3" TO 16" (Maximum water depth is for mature lotus)
USDA HARDINESS ZONES: 4-11
Lotus are sold as bare root tubers, or sometimes later in the Spring as runners with small leaves. The growing points are fragile, and must be handled very carefully.
