'Red Silk' Red Hardy Water Lotus (Nelumbo cultivar)
Red Silk has lots of full, multi-petal blooms of rich, strong red. Spectacular full blooms on a sturdy medium plant, Red Silk is an exciting new cultivar from China. Early to start blooming, then continues to bloom all season. Sure to become a favorite!
SIZE: MEDIUM (Height 3' to 4') Makes a good small lotus for small water features if put in the smaller sized pot
Planting Container: We recommend a 2 1/2 Gallon Solid Planting Container or a 4 1/2 Gallon Solid Planting Container.
Light Requirements: FULL SUN
WATER DEPTH: 3" TO 9" (Maximum water depth is for mature lotus)
USDA HARDINESS ZONES: 4-11
Lotus are sold as bare root tubers, or sometimes later in the Spring as runners with small leaves. The growing points on both tubers and runners are fragile, and must be handled very carefully.
