Variegated Society Garlic (Tulbaghia violacea var. 'Silver Lace')
Variegated Society Garlic is a beautiful ornamental plant for the water garden. The long, thin foliage is variegated green and white and gives the plant a silvery appearance. The stems and leaves have a garlic smell when cut or bruised. Clusters of lavender-pink flowers bloom all season above the foliage on tall stems. A native plant of South Africa, it is known to help ward off snakes.
